Founding of our System
Atemi-Ryu comes to North Carolina
as a child and was an accomplished martial artist in his
own right when he met Dr. Chenique and the legendary Dr.
Moses Powell. Studying with both for nearly 20 years, G.M.
Velasquez is now the chief instructor at Musha Dojo.

Florendo Vistacion, as well as many other
Grandmasters. In 1975, after attaining the rank of
Shihan, Professor Chenique established his form of
Jujitsu and christened it "Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu." Later,
Professor Chenique went on to form Chendokan
Aidido and Atemi Arnis.

Arts at the age of seven, beginning with the study of Judo at
the Y.M.C.A. in New York. He also undertook the study of
Karate and Ken-Jitsu. By age thirteen, Professor Chenique
was studying Take-No-Uchi Kogen-Ryu Atemi Jujitsu with
Sensei Richard Adams. Later, at age twenty, he studied
Shotokan Karate under the guidance of Shihan Barry
Deutsch.

Musha dojo is the North Carolina home of the Atemi Ryu system of martial arts. It has
also become a unique martial arts center. We have brought together the best martial
artists in Fayetteville and built a school where sharing knowledge is the most
important thing. We welcome students and teachers from all martial disciplines and
have opened our mats to teachers of several non-Atemi Ryu arts.
